Aleksandra Ordoñez

A native of Virginia, Aleksandra began her ballet training with Hortensia Fonseca at the Maryland Youth Ballet and completed her training under the direction of Susan Jaffe and Risa Kaplowitz at Princeton Dance and Theater Studio in New Jersey. She received additional training at Boston Ballet, Orlando Ballet, Corella Ballet (Spain), and attended Boston Ballet's inaugural choreographic workshop led by Helen Pickett. She then worked as a freelance artist and appeared with several companies as a guest artist performing principal roles.
An accomplished choreographer, Aleksandra has staged and choreographed dances from Giselle, The Nutcracker, Paquita, Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Les Sylphides and A Midsummer Night's Dream and has created several original works for schools and companies in the US.
She has also coached students in classical variations and choreographed contemporary pieces for several competitions including for Youth America Grand Prix.
In the spring of 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 crisis, Aleksandra created Virtual Private Lessons, a booking website for virtual ballet lessons to keep dancers encouraged, motivated, & inspired through all the lockdowns. Today, the site continues to reach students and ballet enthusiasts throughout the US.
Aleksandra is an American Ballet Theatre Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 7 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. She has been teaching ballet in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area for many years including for the Upper, Lower, & Adult Divisions at the Washington School of Ballet.
